England 3-0 Israel
Sunday, 09 September 2007
England played well to beat Israel 3-0 in the Euro 2008 qualifier.

England scored at key moments. Wright-Phillips converted a Joe Cole cross after 20 minutes to settle English nerves, Michael Owen scored with a tremendous strike just after half-time to ensure Israel were on the back foot and Micah Richards hit the third after 66 minutes.

It was a reassuring performance, but England still have work to do as they still lie third in a very tight group.

England win but not in style
Sunday, 09 September 2007
England started their defence of their world crown with a victory but not an impressive one.

In the end, they beat the inexperienced USA team 28-10 but for the first twenty minutes the match was too close for comfort at 3-3.

It was only after USA centre Vahafolau Esikia was yellow carded, still in the first half, that England started to exert their authority.

England win one day series
Saturday, 08 September 2007
England won the deciding seventh one-day international against India to take the series 4-3.

India reached just 187.

Initially, it looked as if England may struggle with both openers, Prior and Wright, out for ducks, but Pietersen (not out 71) and Collingwood (not out 64) saw England home for a seven wicket victory.
