Jonny Wilkinson misses USA tie

It does not seem to matter which sport it is, but England seems to always suffer crucial injuries at the most annoying times.

Michael Owen and Jonny Wilkinson are the two prime examples and whilst Owen looks set to start again for England in their Euro qualifiers, Wilkinson has been ruled out of England's first World Cup match after twisting his ankle in training.

Olly Barkley will step in against the United States in Lens on Saturday.

New Look for England midfield

With David Beckham and Kieron Dyer injured, Steve McClaren has called up David Bentley from Blackburn and Aston Villa's Ashley Young for England's squad to play Israel and Russia in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Frank Lampard has a thigh injury and is a doubt for the crucial matches.

Hamilton's title hopes punctured, but still there

Lewis Hamilton managed to finish fifith in Turkey in spite of suffering a late puncture.

Fernando Alonso finished third and cut Lewis Hamilton's championship lead to five points.

Hamilton looked to have secured third spot, when his right-front tyre disintegrated with just 15 laps to go.

The first two home were Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, for a Ferrari 1 - 2.
