Steven Gerrard was born in Liverpool on 30 May 1980.

He has been with Liverpool since starting as a trainee on 26 February 1988. Gerrard made his debut for Liverpool in November 1998 as a sub against Blackburn. His full debut came in the UEFA Cup against Celta Vigo.

Gerrard's promise was established at an early age and after Liverpool's treble winning season, Gerrard won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2001.

Steven Gerrard has won with Liverpool the Worthington Cup (twice), the FA Cup, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.

It was a great moment for the Liverpool captain when Liverpool pulled off one of the greatest sporting comebacks to beat AC Milan in the Champions League final.

Steven Gerrard scored his first goal for England with a typically brilliant shot in the impressive 5-1 win over Germany in September 2001.

Gerrard has regularly captained Liverpool after first being given the opportunity by Gerard Houllier in October 2003.

Steven Gerrard was named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year in 2006. The 2005/2006 season was another good one for Gerrard with Liverpool improving their play in the Premiership to end third and with their lifting the F.A. Cup after a marvellous captain's performance by Gerrard saw them come from behind to beat West Ham on penalties.

On 16 June 2007, Steven Gerrard married Alex Curran at the Cliveden House Hotel in Berkshire.
