Cracknell retires Print E-mail
Saturday, 11 February 2006

Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell has retired from the sport.

Cracknell, who recently rowed across the Atlantic with Ben Fogle, has picked up two Olympic golds and six world titles.

Cracknell was aware that his super-competitive nature was all-encompassing and that whilst Fogle had been telling him about the variety of things he had done, he had become aware just how dominating rowing had been in his own life.

Cracknell remains proud of his positive attitude and told the Telegraph:

"The two Olympic golds and six world titles may go down as the defining statistics of my career, but I am more proud of making the most of my limited talent and never refusing to believe I wasn't going to win at the Olympics, even after missing the 1992 and 1996 Games."
