There were few surprises in Sven Goran Eriksson's 23-man squad for Wednesday's friendly against Uruguay. Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher return from injury - whilst Michael Owen, Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Jonathan Woodgate, Kieron Dyer, Alan Smith, Chris Kirkland and Owen Hargreaves were all unavailable through injury. Kieran Richardson and Darren Bent move to the seniors after playing for the under-21 team. Wes Brown returns to the squad. There are just a couple of players (Phil Neville and Paul Konchesky) who were available for selection but failed to retain their squad places. The England squad: Robinson (Tottenham), Green (Norwich), James (Man City), Young (Charlton), Bridge (Chelsea), Terry (Chelsea), Brown (Man Utd), Ferdinand (Man Utd), King (Tottenham), G Neville (Man Utd), Carragher (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Beckham (Real Madrid), Gerrard (Liverpool), J Cole (Chelsea), Jenas (Tottenham), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Carrick (Tottenham), Richardson (Man Utd), D Bent (Charlton), Rooney (Man Utd), Crouch (Liverpool), Defoe (Tottenham). |
