Chief Executive of the British Olympic Association, Simon Clegg, who was Chef de Mission of the British team in Turin, has written in the Telegraph that he was pleased with GB's performamce at the Winter Olympics. Clegg wrote in The Telegraph: "From a Team GB perspective, I am pleased with our performance. Before the start of the Games, the British Olympic Association's aim of returning with one medal was described by some as 'gloomy', but it is important to be realistic when setting targets. "Our lack of natural facilities and investment in winter sports has led to inconsistent performance levels, making predictions in this, the most competitive of all environments, difficult. That said, the British athletes demonstrated their ability to punch above their weight in global terms." |
