Gymnast Beth Tweddle will miss the Commonwealth Games through injury. The 20-year-old had been tipped to do well in Melbourne. Tweddle won a gold and two silvers in Manchester four years ago. She injured her right ankle when she landed badly during training. Just over a year ago Tweddle had ankle surgery - an operation to remove loose bone fragments from the left ankle, which she had broken in 1998, and also had some surgery on the right ankle to clean it up. |
