Commonwealth Games: Day 6 Print E-mail
Tuesday, 21 March 2006

It was another good day for England as they continued to grab golds, as well as individual athletes passing important landmarks.

Mel Marshall equalled the Team England record for the number of medals won at a single Games. Her silver in the 4x100m medley relay was her sixth medal of the Games at Melbourne.

Mick Gault's silver medal in the 50m pistol was his 14th Commonwealth Games medal and he has now overtaken swimmer Karen Pickering's record of 13 medals.

England gained another three golds on Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games:

Dean Macey collected gold in the decathlon, Christine Ohuruogu beat Olympic and World champion Tonique Williams-Darling to gain gold in the women's 400m, and Lisa Dobriskey won gold in the women's 1500m.

It means that England still lie second in the medals table with 21 golds, 25 silvers and 20 bronzes. India are third with 14 golds - meanwhile Australia stroll along with 53 golds.
