Commonwealth Games Day 9 Print E-mail
Friday, 24 March 2006

No golds for England on day 9, and the athletes missed the mark.

It was disappoinment again for England's athletes as Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis failed to transfer the baton and in the process dropped any hopes of defending the 4x100m relay title.

The badminton court produced a couple of bright spots for England with Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms reaching the mixed doubles final and Tracey Hallam made the final of the women's singles against Malaysia's Mew Choo Wong.

On day 9 England picked up three silvers and three bronzes taking the overall totals for the 2006 Commonwealth Games to Gold 24 - Silver 35 - Bronze 28.
