Questions are being raised over whether England should have asked Sale prop Andrew Sheridan to play against Ireland after he complained of a pain in his neck (literally, not metaphorically) in training. Sheridan may miss the rest of the season after the Sale medical team discovered he had a prolapsed disc in his neck. Sale coach Philippe Saint-Andre is convinced that Sheridan should not have played against Ireland, which may have exacerbated the damage The England medical team felt Sheridan could play and it was only when the prop returned to table-topping Sale that they sent him for a scan, which showed the full extent of the neck injury. |
