With Jeremy Bates's decision not to play Andy Murray in the singles so as not to jeopardise the Scottish star's health, Serbia & Montenegro's captain and Murray's partner in doubles at January’s Australian Open, Dejan Petrovic revealed:

"It’s an advantage for our team that he is not playing on the first day. There has not been any Davis Cup ties in Glasgow for many, many years and there is a lot of expectation on him. Now I think we need to use the opportunity and win both our matches on the first day."

The Schedule of Play

Friday 7th April:

Greg Rusedski vs Janko Tipsarevic
Arvind Parmar vs Novak Djokovic

Saturday 8th April:

Andy Murray & Greg Rusedski
vs
Nenad Zimonjic & Ilija Bozoljac

Sunday 9th April:

Greg Rusedski vs Novak Djokovic
Arvind Parmar vs Janko Tipsarevic

Great Britain also have the excellent doubles player James Auckland in reserve.
