UK Athletics (UKA) have appointed Michael Khmel to organise the men’s 4x100m squad that won the 2004 Olympic title in Athens and the 2005 World Championships bronze medal in Helsinki. Mike McFarlane will continue to work for UKA as a Performance Coach. Meanwhile UKA have given Roger Walters a full time post as Performance Coach - he will be responsible for GB’s women’s 4x100m squad. It is an interesting time for the men's relay team with the Athens Olympic gold medal winners who underperformed in the Commonwealth Games, Jason Gardener, Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis already being challenged for places by European Junior 100m Champion Craig Pickering and silver medallist Simeon Williamson plus regular squad members Christian Malcolm and Chris Lambert. |
