Once again Sri Lanka struggled in their first innings. Having won the toss in the second test they elected to bat and immediately England gained the initiative with Vandort, Tharanga, Jayawardene, and Samaraweera all going very cheaply. Sri Lanka were all out for 141 with Plunkett taking 3-43. In reply England reached 138-3 with Kevin Pietersen on 30 not out. |
