Britain's men are fifth overall after the first day of the European Cup. They need to finish in the top two to qualify for September's IAAF World Cup final.

Dwain Chambers returning from a drugs ban took second place in the 100m.

Jo Pavey (3000m) and Natasha Danvers-Smith (400m hurdles) won for Britain's women.
