Great Britain teams had mixed fortunes in the European Cup. The women were relegated, whilst the men gained third place.

UK Athletics Performance Director, Dave Collins said of the men's team:

"I’m a darn sight happier than I was this time last year, there are definite signs of a change in attitude – the talent is there – they just have to convert it and believe in themselves."

The highlight was Christian Malcolm (Cardiff AAC) in the 200m who ran 20.29 to take first place.
