Beckham explained that he had made the decision some time ago and would have gone through with it whatever the outcome of the World Cup. Beckham also stated that he was still available for selection as an England player. Beckham's statement was a surprise addition to a fairly innocuous press conference by Sven-Goran Eriksson. It was Sven's last conference in charge of England and once again he apologised for England's World Cup's performance. |
