Football is not the only sport that will feature a new England captain.
England Hockey have announced that Jason Lee, Head Coach, and the Player's Leadership Group have agreed "that it is healthy to pass Captaincy responsibilities to new players to recognise their excellent on and off pitch contributions over the last two years and to ensure that tasks are being shared around the team."
This is a relatively rare move in top-class sport and means that the new co-Captains are Ben Hawes (Amsterdam) and Glenn Kirkham (Loughborough) with Brett Garrard leaving the post having been there for three years. |
