Alex Bogdanovic has lost to Israel's Noam Okun in straight sets 4-6 5-7 2-6.
Bogdanovic playing for Great Britain's Davis Cup team had claimed to be more confident than four months ago when he told British captain Jeremy Bates that he wasn't confident enough to play - after his last straight sets defeat against Okun.
GB's match aginst Israel in Euro Africa Zone Group One is very important: Britain, without Rusedski and Henman, must win to avoid a relegation play-off.
