Darren Bent was switched from the Under 21 squad, however Theo Walcott remains in the U-21s. Beckham remains just six short of a century of caps. McClaren spoke with David Beckham on Monday and indicated he wanted to go in a new direction. Beckham said he wanted to fight for his place and McClaren said he would never close the door, but reiterated that he wanted England to move in a new direction. Terry Venables has been confirmed as McClaren's assistant. McClaren said he wanted "evolution not revolution."
