Whilst Walcott joins Birmingham's Cameron Jerome, Preston's David Nugent and Watford's Ashley Young in the Under-21 strike force, Johnson got recalled to the senior squad after being on stand-by for the World Cup. Injuries mean that Joe Cole and Gary Neville miss out on inclusion in the 24-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and Macedonia.
