Hallam shuttles through Print E-mail

Commonwealth champion Tracey Hallam reached the last 16 of the women's singles at badminton's World Championships by easily beating Ella Karachkova 21-9 21-8.

However, Andrew Smith, England's last men's singles hope, failed to reach the last 16, losing to Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-19 21-13.

Robert Blair and Nathalie Munt reached the third round of the mixed doubles beating Tsai Chia Hsin and Cheng Wen Hsing 29-27 22-20.
