Michael Vaughan and Simon Jones have also been awarded contracts despite injuries ruling them out of the Ashes series. The ECB panel decided that no wicket-keeper (Chris Read and Geraint Jones being the obvious candidates) currently meets the criteria for the award of an England 12-month Central Contract.
