The main features of the GB rugby league team against New Zealand in the Gillette Tri-Nations in Christchurch on Saturday are:

  • Brian Carney and Stuart Fielden have overcome knee injuries;
  • Terry Newton starts in spite of missing the Newcastle game;
  • Leon Pryce reverts to the wing;
  • Adrian Morley is back from suspension;
  • Sean O'Loughlin makes his debut;
  • James Roby and Garreth Carvell are on the bench but could make their debuts;
  • Another newcomer, Jon Wilkin has been named as 17th man along with Lee Gilmour.

Great Britain team to face New Zealand: Wellens (St Helens), Carney (Newcastle), Martin Gleeson (Warrington Wolves), Senior (Leeds Rhinos), Pryce (St Helens), McGuire (Leeds Rhinos), Long (St Helens), Fielden (Wigan Warriors), Newton (Bradford Bulls), Morley (Sydney Roosters), Ellis (Leeds Rhinos), Peacock (Leeds Rhinos, capt), O'Loughlin (Wigan Warriors).

Replacements: Roby (St Helens), Carvell (Hull FC), Hock (Wigan Warriors), Gilmour or Wilkin (both St Helens).
