England beat Tonga in the final of the Federation Shield. Tonga played a highly physical game, which late on resulted in a brawl and the sending off of two of their men, captain Solomon Haumono and Joe Falomaki. In all referee Richard Silverwood showed four yellow and two red cards. In the circumstances the England side did well to keep their composure and prevailed through tries from Hodgson, Ferres, Calderwood, Hodgson, and Rooney, who also struck six goals. |
