Ian Bell hit 132 and Paul Collingwood 80 to help England to 303 for six, with a first-innings lead of 56 against South Australia.

England were 34-3, before Bell and Collingwood shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 178.

Meanwhile there are encouraging reports emerging from Steve Harmison's nets session that he may be overcoming his strained left side.
