Both England and Wales were playing experimental sides, but it was England who took the plaudits in a record-breaking win.

Their 62-5 trouncing of the Welsh was England's largest ever victory against Wales and was also England's highest score.

Nick Easter scored four tries and Jonny Wilkinson kicked 17 points to reach 900 in Tests.

England side: Tait; Strettle, Hipkiss, Farrell, Robinson; Wilkinson, Perry; Sheridan, Regan, Vickery (capt), Shaw, Borthwick, Corry, Worsley, Easter. Replacements: Chuter, Stevens, Moody, Dallaglio, Gomarsall, Flood.
