England improved to beat Samoa but the final score flattered them.
Early in the second half the match looked too close to call with the English consistently failing to find touch with their kicks and thus allowing Samoa unnecessary pressure, however England rode out the onslaught and in the end won 44-22.
England are now joint second in Pool A with Tonga, whom they will play in their last group game on 28 September, in a match that will decide which country will take the second qualification place.
