Instead Capello's initial 30-man squad, which he will whittle down, is notable for including the Aston Villa youngsters Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Curtis Davies (on loan) and Scott Carson (on loan). There is no place for Jermain Defoe or Paul Robinson. Capello was reported by the F.A. website as saying: "I have also worked very closely with Stuart Pearce on squad selection and there are some players like Joe Hart, Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott and David Wheater who are with the U21s this time because they have a very important qualification game against Ireland on Tuesday."
