Team GB badminton players Andrew Smith and Tracey Hallam both won their opening singles contests at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Andrew Smith came from behind to beat Petr Koukal of the Czech Republic 10-21, 21-12, 21-15.

Tracey Hallam beat a strong opponent Yip Pui Yin 21-15, 21-17 and will face Kristina Ludikova of the Czech Republic tomorrow.
